Construction is complete on this 1740-sf addition to an existing 1700-sf one-story bungalow. Parker Structural Engineering provided structural engineering design and construction administration services for this house renovation. The addition included a 1320-sf second story which was designed to span over the existing roof in order to maintain habitability during construction and preserve the existing vaulted, beamed ceilings. New posts, beams, shear/bearing walls, and footings were added to support the new construction. This project utilized prefabricated scissor trusses at the roof to achieve vaulted ceilings upstairs as well, and used I-joists at the second floor.
